Registration of holiday rentals and tourist tax

Registration of furnished holiday accommodation is now mandatory in all municipalities in departments 06 and 83 – including when a primary residence is rented out for fewer than 120 days per year.

In most of our areas, registration can be completed online via:

However, some municipalities are not yet connected to DéclaLoc. This includes Fayence, where registration is still carried out directly with the local town hall (la mairie). Nowadays, this can usually be done by email, after which the municipality can forward the necessary CERFA registration to the tourist tax office.

If you are unsure which procedure applies to your property, we will of course be happy to assist you.

Once the property has been registered, the tourist tax must be declared and paid digitally via the official platform for your area.

Once the tourist tax has been paid, please send us the payment receipt. We will then reconcile the amounts with the guests' advance payments and refund any difference within 10 working days.

Please note that the French authorities may impose substantial fines for failure to register, declare or pay the tourist tax – both on property owners and intermediaries involved in the rental.

Property classification – financial and tax benefits

A classified holiday property (meublé de tourisme classé) may offer several financial benefits, including:

  • A lower fixed tourist tax rate per adult per night
  • Potential tax benefits, including a higher allowance under the micro-BIC tax regime

You can find approved classification organisations here:

Cooperation with TAM-TAM Classement

We have entered into a partnership with Marion Mabille from TAM-TAM Classement, who covers most of our area and works with our local colleague Nathalie Lentz.

This makes the process considerably easier for you as a property owner and, in many cases, means that the classification can be completed without your personal attendance.

Naturally, the property must meet certain requirements, and a fee is payable to the classification organisation. However, we are happy to assist our exclusive property owners throughout the entire process.

New national registration platform postponed

The new national registration platform for holiday rentals in France, which was scheduled to launch in May 2026 as part of the so-called “Le Meur” law, has been postponed until the fourth quarter of 2026.

Until the new platform comes into effect, registration must continue to be completed through the existing local procedures – via DéclaLoc in most of our municipalities and, in some areas, directly through the local town hall (la mairie).

Mandatory registration of holiday properties in France

Under French law, all furnished holiday properties (meublés de tourisme) must be registered with the local municipality in areas where this requirement has been introduced.

Where the registration scheme applies, the property is issued with a registration number, which must be provided to Provacances and displayed in the relevant marketing.

This registration number is mandatory and must appear in all advertisements and marketing channels, including:

  • The holiday rental agency's website
  • Online booking platforms (e.g. Airbnb and Booking.com)
  • Other marketing channels

The purpose is to ensure transparency, correct tax registration and compliance with local regulations governing short-term rentals.

Without a valid registration number, the property cannot legally be marketed as holiday accommodation in the municipalities concerned.

Please let us know as soon as your property has been registered and/or classified – or if you would like assistance with the process or contacting the local authorities.
