France
Mougins

Mougins lies in the hinterland of the coast between Cannes and Grasse on a cone-shaped cliffside. This fantastic medieval mountain village is set in beautiful countryside and surrounded by pine and olive trees and cypresses, an ideal place for a holiday. There is no doubt that Mougins, squeezed in behind the remains of the 15th century walls and a fortified Saracen gate, is one of the really big pearls of the hinterland. From Mougins there are magnificent panoramic views over the bay of Cannes, the islands of Lérins and the Pre-Alps.

This village surprises you with its charm, its beautiful well-restored houses and impressive gates, and its abundance of flowers everywhere – here lots of care has been given to every detail.

Mougins has, actually, seduced numerous painters, artists and other celebrities including Picasso (who spend the last 15 years of his life here), Cocteau, Fernand Léger, Paul Eluard, Man Ray, Winston Churchill, Christian Dior, Catherine Deneuve, Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel.

Mougins is also one of the most popular places for eating in France. Amongst the many first class restaurants there is the master chef Roger Vergé’s two restaurants Moulin de Mougins and Amandier de Mougins, of which the first mentioned is the most exclusive and the most expensive.
