Villa la Fonte is a beautiful holiday villa located in the heart of the Tuscan hills near the hamlet of Pillo and very close to the Medieval village of Gambassi Terme along the pilgrimage route of Via Francigena. Within 30 min drive you will reach the historic towns of Volterra and San Gimignano and both Montaione and Castelfiorentino can be reached within a short drive.
The villa is located on a large private plot with olive groves, plants and other typical Tuscan trees. The villa is very private and has no vis-à-vis neighbors at the pool and terraces. The pool is very large and is surrounded by a sun terrace with plenty of sun loungers. Next to the villa there is a very cozy covered terrace with dining table, BBQ and pizza oven. Access to the villa via electric gates. Parking for several cars.
The property consists of a main villa for 10 persons. The beautiful country house has been transformed into a wonderful villa which still preserves its origins and history with its typical Tuscan ceilings, floors and furniture.
The main villa is in 3 floors and consists of a ground-floor with a big kitchen, a dining room with a historical fireplace where farmers used to sit to get warm, a sitting room, a reading room with built-in fireplace, a bathroom and the laundry. On the upper floors there is 5 bedrooms (2 of them en-suite) – 4 of them with private bathrooms.
All bedrooms have air conditioning and mosquito nets in the windows.
All around the house-BBQ.pool a system against mosquito has been installed. Is works more or less like an irrigation system where a mixture of water/cedronella is spayed out and makes a "barrier" around the living area - this helps reduce the numbers of mosquitos.
The house can be rented for 14 persons as ref. i5.224
The price for AC consumption is € 0.60/kwh and gas methane € 1.50/cbm

At the end of the Dark Ages, Greve developed on the flat ground of the Greve valley as the market for the fortified villages, castles and farm houses on the surrounding hilltops. In 1325 it was burned to the ground by Castruccio Castracani, the Duke of Lucca. Nevertheless, Greve expanded considerably during the 14th and 15th centuries, and, after...
Once the seat of a small Etruscan village in the Hellenistic period (3rd century BC) it began its life as a town in the 10th century, taking its name from the Holy Bishop of Modena, St. Gimignano, who is said to have saved the village from the barbarian hordes. The town increased in wealth and developed greatly during the Middle Ages thanks to...
Today’s Volterra mainly carries the stamp of the Middle Ages and the most interesting buildings from this period are to be seen at Piazza dei Priori. Here, you can also find well-kept remains from the Etruscan period, i.e. the town gate, Porta del Arco, one of the best preserved Etruscan town gates in Italy. It dates back to the 4th century...
