Provence Côte d'Azur
Provence is a region situated in the sunny south-eastern corner of France. The real Provence stretches from the perfume-city of Grasse to the east all the way to the Rhône valley to the west, and from the high Alps to the north, to the Mediterranean to the south. Even though it is not geographically correct, the French Riviera is today also considered a part of Provence. The region contains the following departments: the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Vaucluse, the Var, the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence as well as the Alpes Maritimes. Furthermore, we have decided to include the departments of the Drôme and the Ardèche in the region of Provence-Côte d´Azur, as many of our holiday homes are situated near the natural border of Provence-Côte d´Azur. Situated in the most ideal central location in Tuscany, the villa is very close to the "must see" destinations in the region: Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena, and Florence, among others. 14 secluded hilltop hectares of beautiful traditional Tuscan landscape with olive groves, grape vines, and spectacular panoramic vistas. Whether you spend the day swimming in the pool and soaking in the hilltop views, playing tennis on the private court, lounging around the more than 6,000 square feet in the nearly 700 year old villa, or strolling the cobblestone streets of the nearby medieval villages, the villa will greet you each morning with unparalleled beauty and calm.
Historical documents first mention the villa in 1331, but Etruscan ruins found on the property suggest that it is even far older than that. The first recorded owner found in documents from the 14th Century was Giovanni di Diagio da Torrita. The Villa then belonged to the father of Pope Pio II, whose family owned the Villa until 1873. In 1971 the Villa was completely restored, and in 2007/2008 it was renovated and the infrastructure was modernized in order to provide guests the most convenient and lovely of experiences.
Guests will be welcomed by the managers who live on site and will help to make the stay as comfortable as possible. They will be able to recommend the best local restaurants, coordinate a wine tour and tasting for you, have fabulous chefs give private cooking lessons, guide you to the nearby hot springs and spas, and tell you all about the "hidden" architectural gems.
The villa offers all the amenities you'd expect – a large pool, tennis court, playground for children, gym, luxurious showers with jet massages, plasma television with the latest DVDs and satellite programming, and high-speed wireless internet access - and some that you wouldn't - flowers on your kitchen table, fresh eggs and vegetables from our garden stocking your kitchen, local wines standing by for your evening meal, and fresh olive oil.
The villa can be rented for up to 22 people (children included), and consist of 11 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, a huge living room with open fireplace and many other sitting rooms to relax and enjoy the Italian way of life.
Consumption: 10 % of the rental price (includes: weekly change of linen and towels, gas, water, electricity, one night of firewood for the open fireplace, usage of swimming pool, tennis court, fitness room and garden area, and internet)
