What makes this lovely stone cottage so special is its wonderful garden, for which the owners won first prize in a major contest in 2001. Two round pools, one smaller suitable for children, and the other one 7 metres in diameter, are surrounded with lush greenery where different types of exotic grass and flowers abound. Mediterranean bushes and trees and a little pond with lotus flowers complete this wonderful scenery.
You will enjoy the tranquillity of this lovely house in the Istrian village of Rocko Polje, which is situated in the quiet countryside, still only 25 km away from Opatija, one of the most famous Croatian resorts, built at the end of 19th Century for the Austro Hungarian aristocracy. Here you will find beautiful Medveja and Moscenicka Draga beaches with summer sports and little bars and restaurants, the best fish restaurants in Croatia, terraces with live music, casinos and the well known Promenade, along the seaside path that connects several little towns and is perfect for refreshing walks in the evenings. For hiking lovers, Ucka mountain is 10 minutes drive from the cottage. It is a nature park with rich flora, and fauna perfect both for walking and climbing. From the top of Ucka the view of Istria and Opatija Bay are unforgettable; on a clear day one can see Venice and Italy in the distance.
A market for the food essentials is located in Lupoglav, 3 km from the cottage where you will find a good restaurant called «Alba» serving typical Istrian dishes. Also there is an excellent restaurant and pizzeria just 10 minutes walk away down a country lane which serves pizzas baked in stone ovens and grilled meat specialities. If you feel like visiting 'the smallest town in the world', Hum is just 3 km away in this tiny stone little town you will find another good restaurant, as well as little galleries and shops selling authentic Istrian products such as truffle based delicacies. For a supermarket, bank, post office, petrol station drive to Buzet, 10 km away. Buzet has a lovely hilltop town center , very typical for Istria, but for the most beautiful Istrian hilltop town you don't have to drive a long way. Motovun is only 10-15 minutes drive away from Buzet, and apart from being the most beautiful medieval Istrian town, it hosts a Film festival in August, which is getting more and more important in this part of Europe.
