Provence is a region situated in the sunny south-eastern corner of France. The real Provence stretches from the perfume-city of Grasse to the east all the way to the Rhône valley to the west, and from the high Alps to the north, to the Mediterranean to the south. Even though it is not geographically correct, the French Riviera is today also considered a part of Provence. The region contains the following departments: Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse, Var, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence as well as the Alpes-Maritimes. Furthermore, we have decided to include the departments of Drôme and Ardèche in the region of Provence-Côte d’Azur, as many of our holiday homes are situated near the natural border of Provence-Côte d´Azur. The ancient village of Tenuta Lupinari is situated in the heart of Tuscany amongst the hills of Siena and Arezzo in one of the most beautiful parts of Chianti. The village has been beautifully restored using carefully chosen, traditional materials and finish of an exceptional standard.
The Tenuta Lupinari is in effect a hamlet all of its own, lying amidst 750 acres of woods, vineyards and centuries old olive trees. The area has remained miraculously unspoilt and unchanged across the centuries, and today offers a striking oasis of peace and tranquillity. The expansive view is picturesque with the mixture of trees, fields and small towns.
Tenuta Lupinari is one of the largest private, family-owned estates in Chianti. The Castello Lupinari, home of the owners, was designed by the famous Italian architect, Coppede, at the turn of the century in the style of a mediaeval castle. The hamlet “Borgo” lies behind the castle and has been completely reconstructed into 10 large and nicely appointed apartments designed for holiday rentals. There is a very large private pool (20 x 8m) and a lovely restaurant where the guest can complete a perfect day with a traditional Tuscan meal in the evenings. The estate produces wine and olive oil which is for sale to guests. The estate also offers guided tours to discover traditions and flavours of Tuscany, for example the Chianti region with wine tasting. Cooking lessons are also provided on reservation. The place is also very suitable for special arrangements like weddings.
The unique position makes it easy to reach a profusion of the most beautiful towns and hill villages in Tuscany and Umbria including for example Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio and San Giminiano. Bucine is just to the south and west of Montevarchi, between Arezzo and Siena. The A1 autostrada is just a 20 minute drive away, and Florence is 45 minutes by car. Arezzo and the treasures of Piero della Francesca are a short drive away, and the gates of Siena are reachable in 30 minutes. The official vineyards of Chianti begin here and extend to the east, giving visitors ample opportunity to explore the small roads and hill towns of Tuscany. The town of Bucine is small but complete, with a Wednesday morning market and an excellent simple restaurant.
The apartments in the Borgo Tenuta Lupinari are all fully serviced, have large bedrooms with ensuite facilities, spacious living rooms, large gardens and terraces. The apartments have been carefully restored with elegance and taste, and are furnished with antique pieces.
